Day 1
After delicious choose your own filling, freshly made rolls and snacks, we took ourselves to an outdoor lunch hall and ate up. Despite some questions about the "nutritional value" of hoola hoops, we scarfed up lunch ready for our first real activities. Have you ever seen a residential dining room that looks like this? Wow 😍

Year 6 headed to the low ropes, as you can see, there was much comedic value in this activity and Miss Lovell was on the floor in fits of laughter. The low ropes may seem simple but there's a lot of skill and teamwork needed to get across with speed and grace.
Year 5 however were on an activity called "postman's walk" which was a set of very *not* low ropes. For their first ever residential, they tackled this with great confidence and brilliant teamwork! With the tunes of "I believe I can fly", they graceful floated back down. Not everyone managed to reach the top, but we've all given it a good go.
After a snack of fruit bars and apples - energy levels replenished - we swapped activities and rope heights and had a go at the other activity!
Year 5 showing excellent teamwork across the variety of ropes. We enjoyed the challenge games once we had got the *swing* of things 🐒!!
As is the case every year, the greatest challenge of the day is learning how a fitted sheet and duvet cover works. Ben has been teaching each room one by one and we are slowly getting there. One of the children sighed "why don't they know how to do it? It's an essential skill!"
The biggest question of the day has been "when do we get to unpack?" Closely followed by "what time is dinner?" And "when can we eat our snacks?". The answer to these has been a combination of "later", "I don't know" and "soon!" on repeat 😂.
Dinner was a hit! Build your own pizza that we then cooked Infront of you, eaten in the outdoor dining room. Followed by chocolate ice-cream.... there were no fussy eaters at dinner tonight- it was gobbled up before the teachers even got to sit down!
