Day 2 highlights
You'll be pleased to hear that bedtime went down without a hitch and there were a few snores amongst the shushing for those who were still too excited for lights out. We have settled in well and behaving impeccably, such an amazing team to represent our school!
This morning there were a few children who were up with the sparrows, very sensibly using their time wisely to have a peaceful shower without the calls of the rest of their roommates to "hurry up"! Next time they're slow to get out of bed, remind them of this early, and, dare we say it, excellent independent morning routines!
Our first hearty breakfast consisted of hash browns, toast, beans, toast, bacon (for some), toast, cereal (some minor spillages reported), toast, toast.... and did we mention, toast?! With full bellies and much excitement, day 2 started off well.
Apart from one little slip of a foot in the lake, all teams managed to stay dry for the rafting. Which was a pretty awesome achievement!
But we all know that the purpose of raft building isn't to float but to get soaking wet, so, to celebrate the achievement of not falling in.....at least half of Year 5 then jumped into the lake! Water achievement unlocked!
We learnt a couple of cool knots to tie too!
Stacking crates was more complicated than it first appeared... there was a lot of "hanging around" in the air as towers collapsed beneath us. Fortunately, no groups decided to replicate their recent science experiments investigating gravity and air resistance! We can report that all children have been safely detached from their harnesses with two feet firmly planted back on Earth.
After lunch we had a great afternoon of zip lining and a blindfold obstacle course in the middle of the forest. Quiet time so far has involved games and some epic room tidying (grown-ups, another one to add to the bank for later), each group vying to be the champion of room inspections.
Now, we're sure you'd be thinking, with so many amazing activities today, what would be my child's highlight? We can easily answer that. SHOPPING NIGHT! Can you think of any object that could be blue with the letters "PGL" on it?! Well, the shop has all of them and more...
We've finished off the day with hearty portions of chicken katsu curry and chocolate brownies. Tuesday dinner of champions!
Stay tuned tomorrow for photos of zip lining, our evening activities and more fun!
